... here we are again hanging out and showing off our desks 'warts and all' courtesy of Julia at The Stamping Ground. The weather's lousy outside (typical English summer!) so what better way to spend a wet Wednesday afternoon than blog-hop around some fabulous desks .... So, here's mine ...
... a couple of horse canvases that I'm working on, the one on the left has been re-worked a bit, and I'm finally getting there. I'm pleased with how they're coming along so far, but I often find I have to put things to one side and come back to it later (sometimes it's MUCH later... lol). The pink canvas at the top of the picture is one that I was using as a demo during my class at the weekend but I wasn't happy with it at the end so it's another one in the pipeline for a bit of 'attention'. I can't bear to throw it out so usually try and cover it up with something else! After all, isn't that what the great artists did too ... ; )
Hope you're having a great week. Thanks for visiting and leaving your lovely comments, I'll do my best to get back to you.
Happy painting ...
Liz (and the 'pigs') x
Hi Liz, great canvases. I had a painting teacher that always told us to get up and walk around every so often. When you come back to it you see it a little differently. I still practice that....... but mostly because I get stuck!! LOL
ReplyDeleteHave a great week

Hi Liz - If I get stuck I think it works to do something else and then come back. Quite often I find the thing that was bugging me looks ok with fresh eyes! Those Pigs are just out of my reach again I notice!! ;-) WOYWW Hugs to you from Helen 88
ReplyDeleteYour canvass are looking good ....... I to have to walk away then come back to some things

Hi Liz, great canvases, love your colour palette. I've done some of my best work when I've walked away from a project (especially if I didn't like it much at the time) and come back to it with a fresh outlook, so I know what you mean about reworking ideas. Have a great week MMx #114
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with the previous comment about coming back to a project. Coming back with fresh eyes does make a difference. Sometimes I feel like I've been way too close to something and I need a bit of distance before deciding what next... kind of can't see the wood for the trees syndrome. Love your horses' heads. xxx Julie Ann #58

Hmm, your ´lousy English weather´ came our way and I woke up to see grey skies and rain. I hope it is better across the North sea, so that you have sun. I LOVE the peek at your workdesk and see the canvases come to life. Nice work. happy ~ belated ~ woyww, Marit #110
ReplyDeleteI agree that putting stuff to one side for later is usually the way to go when somethings just not happening. Its surprising how often something that I thought was junk, ends up coming together beautifully further down the line.Have a great week, Hugs Shaz#85 xx
